Tivoli: Villa d'Este and Hadrian's Villa - Private Tour
We dedicate this tour to our fellow Italians, to help restart tourism in Italy, we need you! Leave behind the hustle and bustle of Rome for a peaceful half-day excursion to Tivoli, the charming town on the outskirts of the city that is home to Villa Adriana and Villa d’Este, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites and masterpieces of opulence and delight. The first of these villas dates back to the 2nd century, while Villa d’Este was built in the 16th century. Hadrian was one of the most beloved emperors and an amateur architect; his villa is filled with innovative designs inspired by iconic places he visited throughout the Roman Empire. Villa d’Este was built by Cardinal Ippolito d’Este to console himself after a failed bid for the papacy. It is best known for its incredible fountains, designed by Pirro Ligorio.

Where this sits in Rome
Rome is about 33 min by road from Rome Fiumicino Airport. Three thousand years stacked on top of each other, still busy being a capital. Stay central and walk — the Forum, the Pantheon and a dozen churches worth the detour are closer together than the map suggests, and the city rewards wandering more than ticking off.
