Outdoor tour of the Vatican City with a physical guide
Outdoor tour of the Vatican City with a physical guide. A beautiful experience for those who want to learn about the history of the Vatican City but don’t feel like going inside various places and standing in line. You start from 43 Via del Mascherino with the guide and walk all the way along Borgo Angelico to Castel Sant'Angelo in front of the beautiful Ponte di Castel Sant'Angelo. From there you follow the Via della Conciliazione up to St Peter's Square. You then continue under an arch to the right to Piazza della Città Leonina, where the guide will also explain the Passetto di Borgo (the Pope's escape route), and you pass along the Vatican walls to Porta Angelica, where the entrance to Vatican City is. There you will also find the Church of St Anna. Then you follow the Vatican walls to Piazza del Risorgimento, where the guide will explain everything. The tour ends at Piazza Risorgimento, where you will be taken to a traditional Roman restaurant for lunch.

Where this sits in Rome
Rome is about 33 min by road from Rome Fiumicino Airport. Three thousand years stacked on top of each other, still busy being a capital. Stay central and walk — the Forum, the Pantheon and a dozen churches worth the detour are closer together than the map suggests, and the city rewards wandering more than ticking off.
