From Trastevere to Campo de' Fiori Small-Group Rome Food Tour

Rome· Ancient city · food · artEnglish2 options

Three of Rome's oldest neighborhoods, connected by food instead of a map. You'll start in Campo de' Fiori, a market square that's fed Romans since the Renaissance, then wander into the Jewish Ghetto for crisp fried artichoke and other classics rooted in recipes older than the restaurants making them. From there, cross the river by way of Tiber Island, a spot with its own strange history, before settling into a centuries-old trattoria for a plate of cacio e pepe done right. The walk ends in Trastevere on a sweet note. Four hours, six handpicked tastings, and a small group led by a guide who treats the history as seriously as the food, and who's always glad to slow down for questions along the way.

Where this sits in Rome

Rome is about 33 min by road from Rome Fiumicino Airport. Three thousand years stacked on top of each other, still busy being a capital. Stay central and walk — the Forum, the Pantheon and a dozen churches worth the detour are closer together than the map suggests, and the city rewards wandering more than ticking off.
