Ready to make your day in the city a fun experience for the whole family? Begin by seeing the National Monument to Victor Emanuel II in Piazza Venezia. At the back of the monument lies the Ancient Roman area of the city, the Roman Forum, and the Colosseum. Then it will be time to drive by the Baths of Caracalla until you reach the glorious Pantheon, where you will have time to explore the square and enter the site to marvel at the inlaid marble floors and beautiful statues. Walk around Piazza Navona with its stunning monumental fountains and climb the stairs at the Spanish Steps for a view of the lively square below before you head to Trevi Fountain to toss a coin in for good luck and a safe return to Rome. There will be also time for a traditional Italian lunch before moving on to the Appian Way area where you will spend the rest of the afternoon exploring the underground catacombs with a guided tour offered by the Catacomb staff, before returning to your hotel in the city.

Where this sits in Rome

Rome is about 33 min by road from Rome Fiumicino Airport. Three thousand years stacked on top of each other, still busy being a capital. Stay central and walk — the Forum, the Pantheon and a dozen churches worth the detour are closer together than the map suggests, and the city rewards wandering more than ticking off.
